Irish Sea gas contract

US-based Burlington Resources has awarded a GBP 55 million pound engineering contract in its Rivers Fields natural gas venture in the Irish Sea. Burlington, which intends to invest a total of GBP 185 million pounds in the project, awarded the contract for offshore platform and pipeline works. The project is a joint venture between Allseas UK, a subsidiary of Allseas Group, and Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants Ltd, part of France’s Technip-Coflexip. The platform will be installed in late 2002 and the following year the pipeline leading to a treatment and compression plant adjacent to an existing Centrica terminal on Britain’s east coast. First gas supply is expected in 2004.
