In a recent press communication from Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC), notice was given regarding changes of the trade names of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation and consolidated subsidiaries, and an amendment to the Articles of Incorporation of NSSMC. As of 1st April 2019, the new trade name (in English) is: NIPPON STEEL CORPORATION.
The press release further stated reasons for the change, including the fact that ‘amidst the advancing trend of globalization of the economy, NSSMC is strongly promoting the development of its business in areas such as the Americas, Europe, China, Southeast Asia and India. In this environment, NSSMC has determined to adopt a new and more inclusive trade name befitting a steelmaker with origins in Japan and an emphasis on continuing growth in global markets looking toward the future.’
