Intertek discusses uses & benefits of NDT

Intertek, a quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has recently discussed the use and benefits of various non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques at the Middle East Steel Conference for the Oil and Gas Industry (MESCOG) at the Intercontinental Festival City in Dubai.

This year at MESCOG, Santanu Saha, Technical Manager at Intertek INSPEC, presented the use of ultrasonic phased arrays to examine welds on specific class of stainless steel alloy and ultrasonic guided waves for over-ground and heavily coated piping. Santanu shared his insight on industrial inspection and asset integrity management services that ensure quality control as well as compliance to safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Santanu said: “Across the globe, evolving technological capabilities are becoming tools to overcome quality and safety challenges in a variety of industries such as oil and gas, power and construction. Intertek’s team identifies the appropriate techniques and procedures to help prevent asset failure. I will share our experience in using various NDT techniques for the examination of specific welds and the inspection of buried pipelines. Our goal is to provide our customers with the necessary data to assist them in making informed decisions that ensure safe and efficient operations while minimizing risks and loss of revenue due to product, equipment and asset defects or failure.â€?
