InterMoor upgrades Port Açu facility in Brazil

InterMoor has recently added inspection and testing capabilities to its marine base at the Açu Superport in São João da Barra, northern Rio de Janeiro. The base now boasts a 1,000-ton test bed and can perform load and breaking test for chain, wire rope, and mooring accessories up to 800t SWL.

The inspection, test, and certification capabilities also extend to cargo-handling material like cranes, hoists, rigging, water bags, and slings. The company works with certification agencies such as ABS, DNV, BV and RINA, as requested per the client for each project. From the Açu marine base, InterMoor supports a wide range of customer requirements, including mooring services, equipment storage and maintenance, and vessel docking, supply, loading, and offloading.

Cleiver Moulin, managing director, InterMoor do Brasil, says, “The new testing equipment enables us to widen our offering to our customers in the oil and gas and cargo transportation industries. We are now delivering a new set of integrity services including inspection, non-destructive tests, repair, and maintenance for all types of mooring components and cargo handling. There currently are 43 Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSO) offshore Brazil and our marine base at the Açu Superport is strategically placed to provide them with the necessary inspection, repair, and maintenance work for their mooring system.â€?
