Four of Indonesia’s strategic oil and gas projects have already begun operations in the first half of this year, with 11 more projected to come on stream in the second half, a senior official from the country’s Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) said on Friday.
Hudi D. Suryodipuro, head of the Program and Communication Division at SKK Migas, said the regulator expects a total of 15 oil and gas projects to be operational in 2025.
“For 2025, 15 projects are targeted to be on stream. Four have already started operations, and the remaining 11 are expected to be online before the end of the year,” he said.
He added that one additional project is scheduled to begin operations soon and that his team is continuing to coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of the remaining projects.
According to Hudi, the total investment for the 15 projects amounts to USD 832M, with a combined production potential of 233,389 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The Indonesian government is boosting oil production to meet growing domestic demand and reduce reliance on imports.
