Outokumpu Technology will design and deliver two sinter plants in India. The contracts have been signed with Jindal Iron and Steel Company Ltd (JISCO) and Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL). Outokumpu’s scope covers basic engineering, supply of proprietary and special equipment and technical services. The new sinter plants will be identical of design and they will be built in Toranagallo and Raigarh. Both plants are part of Jindal’s ambitious expansion plans for their steel plants. JSPL intends to raise its annual steelmaking capacity by two million tonnes and the steel production at JISCO will be increased to four million tonnes per year. Therefore the planned execution time of both sinter plant projects is extremely short, only 14 months.
