India’s government is concerned about the attitude of French leaders toward Mittal Steel’s bid for Arcelor, Trade Minister Mr Kamal Nath said on 1 February. After a meeting with EU Trade Commissioner Mr Peter Mandelson, Mr Kamal Nath said that he had “brought to Mandelson’s notice concern about comments emanating from the French government.” He also mentioned that “India is closely watching the takeover and comments by the French government,”. Mr Kamal Nath said any actions the French and Indian governments take about deal must be “conducive” to business relations between the two countries.
