Petronet LNG Ltd is considering setting up a 750MW power project at the site of its proposed Rs 2500 crore Kochi re-gasification terminal, which is expected to go operational in 2011. The Petronet LNG board decided to carry out a pre-feasibility study of the proposed power plant. Cochin Port Trust (CPT) and the Kerala Government would take a decision to allot land for the purpose, in a month. CPT chairman N Ramachandran said the port had allotted 32 hectares in Puthuvype for the terminal and another 22 hectares for marine constructions. The request for need for additional land will be placed before the next CPT board for sanction, he said. The power project is proposed to be set up using energy released during the re-gasification of imported LNG. The total investment for the power project will be decided after the pre-feasibility study.
