ILG books orders for 68,000 tons of plate

Ilsenburger Grobblech (ILG), a subsidiary of Salzgitter, has been awarded a contract by AMBAU for the delivery of approx. 47,900 tons of plate for monopiles and transition pieces for the Nordsee One offshore wind project.

The monopiles that weigh 680 tons are driven into the seabed, and carry the 160-ton transition pieces. The wind converter towers with the turbines are installed on the transition pieces. ILG will be delivering the plate to AMBAU’s production in Bremen and Cuxhaven over the period from May to August 2015. The Nordsee One project was developed by Northland Power, (Toronto) and RWE Innogy (Essen). The 54 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.15MW, are located 40km north of the island of Juist in German territorial waters.

ILG’s annual delivery volume for the wind industry amounts to approximately 200,000 tons of plate. Another contract of around 20,000 tons was booked for an oil and gas offshore project, marking the completion of ILG’s successful entry into this market segment. These contracts reinforce ILG’s performance capabilities and position as a supplier of plate for monopiles, transition pieces and jackets to the international oil and gas and wind market.
