With increasing sensitivity to environmental challenges, gas turbines are becoming the technology of choice as they are powered by natural gas and produce significantly less CO2 emissions compared to coal and oil fired power plants. Derived from jet engines used in aircraft, IHI’s LM6000 gas turbine, the core engine in the project, generates the highest output and efficiency of all IHI’s gas turbine product lineup. IHI has secured orders for 76 units of LM6000 worldwide, comprising 46 units in Japan and 30 units outside Japan (including 16 units in Australia).
