Ice cream expansion in China

The Manitowoc Company Inc. has announced plans to build a new, larger manufacturing and training facility in China, near its present location in Hangzhou. The new plant will be located in the modern Hangzhou Hi-Tech Industrial Park located on the outskirts of Hangzhou.
According to Dan Brandl, executive vice president of the ice machine division of Manitowoc’s Foodservice Group, the facility will include 140,000 square feet of manufacturing space, an engineering and design centre, a service and sales training centre and a showroom. Manitowoc plans to break ground for the new facility in early April and expects to complete the construction phase by year end. Production will begin in early 2005.
