Taigang Group International Trade Co. Ltd has awarded Siemens VAI Metals Technologies GmbH a contract for the modernization of a hot strip mill at Shanxi Taigang Stainless Steel Co. Ltd, located in Taiyuan in China. The project comprises the supply of engineering, equipment, electrics and automation in addition to various services to increase mill performance, product quality and the product range. The 7 stand finishing mill will be equipped with new main drives, a new work roll lubrication system and the existing work roll cooling system will be enhanced with the installation of dynamic work roll cooling headers. The laminar cooling line will be outfitted with turbo cooling headers featuring dynamic flow control to provide accelerated cooling. A new coiler will replace the existing No 3 coiler and the coil transport system will be modified. Further more, the Simatic PCS 7 automation system previously supplied by Siemens will be updated. The contract value for Siemens VAI is a low two digit million euro figure. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2011.
