Headmade Materials GmbH has qualified Inconel 625 and titanium aluminide TiAl4822 for the ColdMetalFusion process. The qualification is part of the company’s roadmap to support a wide range of materials for the ColdMetalFusion standard.
Titanium aluminide TiAl4822 is said to possess excellent mechanical properties, oxidation and corrosion resistance, as well as high-temperature strength. These characteristics make it ideal for advanced aerospace and innovative manufacturing. TiAl4822 was co-developed with Element22, Kiel, Germany.
Inconel 625 is a nickel-based superalloy known for its high strength and excellent heat and corrosion resistance. These characteristics make it ideal for components used in corrosive environments, particularly within the aerospace and oil & gas industries. After undergoing heat treatment, Inconel 625 can reportedly achieve a tensile strength of 789 MPa and an elongation of up to 38%, surpassing the ASTM B443 standard.
