Hantong wins order for first CNG carrier

Hantong signed a shipbuilding contract with CIMC ENRIC SJZ GAS for building the world’s first CNG carrier. The carrier will be operated by Indonesian National Electric Company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PT PLN), and will be used to transport natural gas between the islands of Indonesia.

The vessel designed by CIMC ORIC will use natural gas as power, and will feature a dual-fuel main engine. It will have an overall length of 110m and a design speed of 14knots. It will be designed and constructed under the classification society American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and PT. Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) (BKI). It is expected to deliver in May 2016.
