Gindalbie makes first magnetite shipment from Kara

Australia-based iron-ore producer Gindalbie Metals Limited (Gindalbie) has announced that it has shipped the first magnetite concentrate cargo from its Karara iron ore project in Western Australia via Karara Export Terminal in Geraldton. It is the first significant shipment of magnetite from Western Australia.

The shipment of approximately 55,000 mt of magnetite concentrate bound for China left Geraldton on January 1, 2013.

According to Gindalbie’s statement in early December, Karara successfully passed the milestone of 1 million mt of hermatite ore shipment. Magnetite production capacity will be ramped up to 8 million mt per year by the end of April 2013.
