Gasoline hydroheaters

Chicago Bridge & Iron Company NV, through its subsidiary Howe-Baker International, has been awarded contracts by the Premcor Refining Group Inc. to design and build two gasoline hydrotreaters at Premcor’s refineries in Port Arthur, Texas, and Lima, Ohio. The combined value of both projects is in excess of USD 115 million. The Premcor Refining Group Inc. is an operating subsidiary of Premcor Inc. The hydrotreaters, using technology under license from IFP (French Institute of Petroleum), will reduce the sulphur content of gasoline feedstocks, thus enabling Premcor to better comply with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 2 gasoline specifications. Howe-Baker is executing both projects on a lump-sum turnkey basis, including engineering, modular fabrication and construction. The Port Arthur facility has a capacity of 53,000 barrels per standard day (BPSD) and is scheduled for mechanical completion in late 2003. The Lima facility, with a capacity of 42,000 BPSD, is scheduled for mechanical completion in mid-2004.
