Gas-based power plants

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is planning to set up 4000MW of gas-based power generation capacity at multiple locations at an investment of INR 10,000 crore, in order to leverage gas availability from its Krishna Godavari basin. As per reports, around 1000MW capacity will come up at Jamnagar in Gujarat where RIL is building a 27 million tonne per annum refinery alongside its existing 33 million tonne per annum refinery. For firing the power plants RIL is assured of 25 million cum per day of gas for captive consumption from the Krishna Godawari basin block.
