Fluor wins oil sands contract

Fluor Corporation has been selected by Canadian Natural Resources Limited to provide design services related to a portion of the utilities and offsites of CNRL’s Horizon Oil Sands project located in the Fort McMurray region of northern Alberta. Fluor will perform the engineering design specifications on the project’s utilities and offsite facilities including those related to tankage, heat integration, flare and relief, electrical distribution, cooling, piping and underground systems. The completed oil sands facility will produce 232,000 barrels per day of synthetic light crude oil to be fed to refineries in Canada and the USA. The project is scheduled to be completed in three phases, with first oil in 2008 and increasing production phased in over a five-year period. Fluor’s offices in Calgary, Canada, and Long Beach, Calif., will execute the work.
