Flashback:

By David Sear

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Helsinki again, to report on the opening of a new factory.

Whilst in the area I did some sightseeing and also dropped by an old acquaintance, Mr Rune Strahl.

Now, Mr Strahl is a dedicated engineer and kindly gave me a mini-tutorial on what it takes to perform a safety analysis.

And, of course, why such research is so important to plant owners and operators.

That interview has just been published in the November issue of Stainless Steel World.

If you are a long-term reader of our magazine, you may ne able to recall a prior interview with Mr Strahl.

At the time, he discusses materials selection for a facility to be built in Kokkola, on the west coast of Finland.

And for new subscribers, I am pleased to add a link to that 1999 interview.

Unfortunately, back then we didn’t yet have the benefits digital printing processes.

So I do apologise for the poor quality of the PDF, which I confess is nothing more than a quick scan of the original magazine article.

Still, I hope it will suffice in showing just why I enjoy meeting materials experts like Mr Strahl so much!
