Fives and Baotou Steel signed a 10-year contract

Fives and Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Union, the north-western China-based iron and steel manufacturing company, has signed a 10-year contract for technical support for the development and production of a wide range of high value-added automotive steels, including the latest advanced high-strength steels.

Fives will provide high-end technological and process expertise covering from upstream to downstream production processes: steel making, hot rolling, pickling, cold rolling, annealing and galvanizing. The cooperation agreement includes extensive training, high-level technical support, development and certification of new high-end automotive steel products, all supported by quality expert systems AbSISTM and EyeronTM developed by Fives KEODS.

Fives has already signed contracts with Baotou Steel for two automotive hot dip galvanizing lines and Stein Digiflex® vertical furnaces for two continuous annealing lines, all equipped with the most advanced process equipment, such as the high efficiency AdvanTek® combustion system and the top performing Flash Cooling® technology.

These contracts together cover Fives’ offer to be a solution provider and an enterprising partner of Baotou Steel for their ambitious expansion program in the high-end automotive market.
