Finland: power boiler

Kvaerner Power, part of the Aker Kvaerner group, has been awarded a contract for a power boiler by UPM. Kvaerner Power is to deliver a power boiler using bubbling fluidised bed (BFB) technology to a power plant at UPM’s Rauma paper mill on the west coast of Finland. The power plant will be built by the new company Rauman Voima Oy which is owned by Pohjolan Voima Oy and Rauman Energia Oy. The plant will produce electricity and steam for the paper mill and district heat for Rauma city. The boiler will be ready at the end of 2006 and it will operate in parallel with a 160 MWth circulating fluidised bed (CFB) boiler. The contract is worth approximately EUR 20 million.
