Faster alloy analysis

NITON Corporation has introduced two portable XRF alloy analysers, the new XLi and XLt series. The XLi 800, at just 1.7 lbs. (0.8 kg), is claimed to be the most lightweight and ergonomic alloy analyser ever conceived. It performs typical alloy identification in less than three seconds. In addition, NITON has developed the patent-pending Infiniton™ isotope source configuration for the XLi. The Infiniton source provides a fast analysis that never slows down, never requires replacement, and eliminates the need to measure with multiple sources. The XLt 800 uses an x-ray tube excitation source, providing enhanced element excitation without the use of radioisotopes. The XLt greatly reduces the regulatory requirements involved in shipping and transport of the instrument that are typically experienced with radio isotope based systems. At just 1.4 kg, it is claimed to be the smallest and fastest x-ray tube-based XRF system available. Both the XLi and XLt are equipped with Hitachi SH-4 CPU’s, advanced ASICS digital signal processing electronics and high-resolution Si-PiN detector technology for the fastest, most precise analysis available in any XRF instrumentation – more than 10 times faster than NITON’s own best-selling XL-800 series analysers.
