Fast Track at BUTTING proves its worth

BUTTING is well placed to cope with individual requirements from its new production site in Könnern. The additional capacities allow the company to react far more flexibly to customer requirements. The lean processes at the Könnern site permits delivery sooner once the steel plate arrives. BUTTING has already succeeded in implementing the first of these so-called “fast track” orders to the customers’ complete satisfaction.

Thus two pipe sizes were produced for a customer in Finland within the stipulated five-week turnaround. For the raw material, BUTTING was able to use the steel plate store of its affiliated company in Schwedt, BUTTING Anlagenbau. On the production site in Könnern, 36 m were produced in 1,016 x 8 mm size and 102 m in 813 x 6.3 mm size. Acceptance took place according to DIN EN 10217-7 TC 1. Michael Fürstenberg, from CRA pipes sales, explains: “After expanding our pipe store with new ISO sizes a few months ago, we can also react more quickly and flexibly to our customers’ requirements in future.”

BUTTING also supplied a German customer at short notice with pipes that are destined for a project in Malaysia. The pipes had to be ready for inspection within four weeks. Steel plates for producing the pipes in 762 x 12.70 mm size were purchased via a service store. In order to send the pipes to the end customer by air freight, the lengths stipulated were 3 m. Acceptance took place according to ASTM A358 Cl. 1 and to customer-specific requirements.
