Fast revamping of billet caster at Rajhi Steel, KSA

In this new era customers are asking for project to be executed quickly – what happened in July at Rajhi Steel billet caster, KSA is an example of this.

The scope of the Rajhi Steel project was to entirely replace the existing carbon steel cooling chamber with a new unit fabricated in stainless steel. This included engineering and supply of the new elements in stainless steel (structure, cladding, bending curves module, internal chamber steam suction duct, etc.).

Less than 11 weeks were needed for complete manufacturing of 55 tons of stainless steel material. From the plant shutdown to the first heat took less than four weeks, which included activities such as complete disassembly, new civil works, new beams aligned by laser trackers and complete reconstruction of piping inside the cooling chamber.

Close cooperation between the Rajhi Steel and Danieli Service teams allowed them to achieve a perfect unity in development and execution of the project, fulfilling  Rajhi Steel’s motto: “Working together is successâ€?.
