UK Special Steels & Alloys Stockholder Intoco have extended their range of stainless steels by adding the Super Austenitic grade UNS S31254/1.4547/F44/6Mo in round bar (diameter 10.0–408.4 mm) and sheet/plate (2– 40 mm).
Their special materials include grades F55 (S32760/1.4501), F53 (S32750/1.4410), F51 (S31803/1.4462), 17/4PH (1.4542) & 440c (1.4125) and the UNS S31254 / F44 has been added to a range serving many industries looking for products with good corrosion resistance and strength.
“With the shortage of high-quality material and sizes to suit end-user requirements in this grade,” says Les Preece of Intoco, “we took the decision to stock a comprehensive size range of highly certified material. This can be cut to size and distributed worldwide from stock very quickly. All the material is EU origin sourced and fully certified.”
He comments further “This super austenitic material is NACE (MR01-75) and NORSOK (MDS R17) certified and has a PREN of 42 to 45. It has enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion resistance compared with the ordinary austenitic or duplex types of material. TT The grade is especially resistant to non-oxidizing acids such as sulphuric and phosphoric, and the high molybdenum content and nitrogen provide resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, while copper enhances resistance to sulphuric acid. It is a fully austenitic alloy containing 6% molybdenum and offers excellent corrosion resistance in a wide variety of aggressive, aqueous environments. It replaces the conventional, austenitic stainless steels (AISI 316 and 317), where their capabilities are pushed to their performance limits.”
