EUROPIPE GmbH has booked yet another major contract. For the planned European Gas Pipeline Link (EUGAL), EUROPIPE will deliver 635,000 tons of large-diameter pipe with a diameter of 56″ (1,420 mm). EUROPIPE is a joint venture of the Salzgitter Group held in the Mannesmann Business Unit and AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke.
Starting in Lubmin near Greifswald on the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the EUGAL gas pipeline will stretch southwards to Deutschneudorf in Saxony and from there on to Czechia, thus passing through the German states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (c. 100 kilometers), Brandenburg (c. 275 kilometers), and the Free State of Saxony (c. 110 kilometers). Extended sections of its total length of some 485 kilometers are designed as two parallel pipe strings.
The pipes for the project will be produced at the Mülheim an der Ruhr location from 2017 to 2019.
