Ecuador: petrochemical refinery

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Rafael Correa have initiated a joint venture initiative between Venezuelan and Ecuador for a new petrochemical refinery at Manta, Ecuador. According to Chavez this is a static enterprise for South America. It would also boost local agriculture through the production of fertilisers. This petrochemical project would cost over USD 5 million and is expected to be ready by 2013.
