Duke/Fluor Daniel wins contract for Texas project

Duke/Fluor Daniel has been awarded a contract by FPL Energy to provide engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services for the 1789mw Forney Power Project in Forney, Texas, near Dallas. FPL Energy, a subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc. will own and operate the facility. When completed in summer 2003, the plant will be one of the largest independent power plants in Texas. D/FD is providing the services on a fixed-price, turnkey basis. Engineering and construction work is underway. During peak construction, the project is expected to employ up to 950 people. The contract value was not disclosed.
