Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd expressed that they would continue to develop a continuous casting workshop and hot rolling plant as part of Steel Competitive Products Base for Baosteel. CISDI Engineering (CISDI) of MCC Group was awarded the engineering contract for the continuous casting workshop and 2250 hot rolling plant. The construction of the projects are to be undertaken by China 20 Metallurgical Group Corporation and CMTCC Shanghai 13 Construction.
Three sets of two-strand slab continuous casting machines are planned and ancillary facilities in the continuous casting workshop with an annual production capacity of 8,749,100 tons of slabs. The two sets of 2150mm continuous casting machines would be completed and put into production by the end of December 2015. The 2300mm continuous casting machine will be relocated from Luojing plant. It is scheduled to be completed and put it into production by the end of September 2016.
The designed annual production capacity of 2250 hot rolling production line is 5,500,000 tons. It is scheduled to be completed and put it into production on March 15th, 2016. The products to be made will be complementary to the existing hot rolling products made by Baoshan Iron & Steel in Shanghai, which mainly produces high-end hot-rolled products, including engineering machinery steel, high-strength steel for making container and railway vehicles, high grade pipeline steel, medium/heavy truck steel. This is a new breakthrough for Baosteel in the field of ultra wide, ultra high-strength steel products. The main equipment of a 2250 hot rolling production line consists of four sets of the-state-of-art pulse control and energy-saving type heating furnaces, equipped with sizing press and high precision hot rolling mills adapted with advanced controlling technologies, and the highest strength temper mill in China.
