Derivatives and Futures Market Debate

In January of 2008 at Cologne, Germany, Platts Steel (London) will hold its Derivatives and Futures Market Debate conference. According to Platts this conference will debate the way forward in Steel markets, bring clarification to this complex subject, and provide the information needed to make strategic decisions in a changing contractual environment. Some of the topics will include: arguments for and against derivatives and futures markets for steel; European competitiveness in global markets; making contracts in a changing market environment; competing against protectionism; hedging and risk management in futures markets; working with location, quality, and cost differentials; logistics and freight as indictors; avoiding collusion in changing markets; and media partnership proposal.
