CSC trusts in latest surface inspection techology

CSC (China Steel Corporation) adopted the 100% continuous casting production process which is considered to be the most up-to-date. Last year its continuous annealing line no. 2 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, appeared to be in need of repair and had to be replaced eventually. Due to the fact that very light longitudinal defects can occur on the surface, CSC made great demands on the new annealing line and its performance. For quality assurance and process optimization they requested items like a side light sensor and a separate hole detector. In the end, CSC decided in favour of the predominant technology of ISRA VISION Parsytec. The advantages of the new system include reliable defect detection, as well as detection of the smallest longitudinal defects, thanks to high-resolution cameras and the combination of two lighting technologies. By substituting its surface inspection system with the latest system from ISRA VISION Parsytec, CSC has been able to improve quality and yield of its annealing process line to a considerable extent.
