Sandvik Coromant has highlighted the uses of its new CoroMill 360 face mill for milling applications involving large, uneven surfaces of metal. The CoroMill 360 face mill is based on the 60-degree entering angle, making it suited for heavy-duty milling, providing scope for large depths of cut, high feed capability, reasonable surface finish and balanced cutting forces. CoroMill 360 inserts are seated in cassettes that are clamped onto serrated seats in the cutter. Sandvik Coromant says this allows quick indexing in the machine, and the replaceable cassettes save the cutter body from wear or damage. Sandvik Coromant claims it developed both the cutter body and inserts of CoroMill 360 for high metal-removal capability and low power consumption. CoroMill 360 works with two kinds of inserts, offering cutting-depths of up to 13 and 18mm.
