Knesebeck-based company celebrates start of construction in Alabama
A few months ago, the long-established company based in Knesebeck announced plans to build a new production site in the USA. Since then, the project in Loxley, Alabama, has gained rapid momentum. The design of the new building is well underway, and a rented hall has been prepared to manufacture the first components while construction is ongoing.
A newly formed team of local experts and BUTTING employees from the Knesebeck, Schwedt and Burgkirchen sites has also arrived on site. They are bringing BUTTING’s values and expertise to the USA to share with their new colleagues.
The next highlight took place on 13 November, when the foundation stone for the new production hall was laid during a celebratory groundbreaking ceremony. Marcel Bartels, CEO of Division Plant Construction at BUTTING Group, and Adrian Rochofski, CEO of BUTTING USA, welcomed local officials, partners, politicians and other guests to the atmospheric event.
A particularly memorable moment was the planting of a live oak tree, which is typical of the southern states of the USA. According to Adrian Rochofski, this signifies strength and longevity: “Loxley is now part of the BUTTING family. We are here to stay. Together, we will build something that will also benefit future generations.”
With the construction of the new production site, BUTTING is taking another step towards the sustainable development of the group of companies. “Our strengths lie in forming, welding, machining and materials technology, as well as engineering, logistics, assembly and quality assurance. This makes us the perfect partner for demanding applications in the USA, whether in the energy industry, semiconductor manufacturing or other projects,” says Marcel Bartels, explaining the reasons for the big move across the Atlantic. Our American customers attach great importance to quality and local production. With the new location, we will now be able to meet demand for products manufactured in the USA, while maintaining the usual BUTTING quality.”
In a personal video message, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey highlighted the significance of BUTTING’s investment for the region: “We are proud to welcome this historic family business to Alabama and look forward to seeing it put down roots here.”
The first production hall in Loxley is scheduled for completion at the end of 2026. Until then, BUTTING will manufacture products for its American customers in the temporary production hall.
