Cogentrix selects Kvaerner for USA project

Kvaerner PLC has been selected by Cogentrix Energy for final negotiations of the turn-key engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for an 810mw power facility being developed by Cogentrix outside Bedford, Indiana, USA. The combined-cycle power plant will be designed and built by Kvaerner’s Pittsburgh operation. Kvaerner’s contract will be in excess of USD 200 million. The project has a target commercial operation date of June 2004. Cogentrix Lawrence County LLC expects to have all permits and contracts, including the EPC contract with Kvaerner, completed to support a financial closing for the project that will allow work to commence in the fourth quarter of 2001.
