Clayton Williams Energy appoints new president

Clayton Williams Energy, an independent energy company located in Midland, Texas, announced that Mel G. Riggs has succeeded Clayton W. Williams, Jr. as president of the company, effective immediately. In his capacity as president, Riggs will be responsible for the general supervision, direction and control of the day-to-day business and affairs of the company.

“Mel has been with the company for over 30 years, and I have full confidence in his ability to successfully lead our company through a challenging commodity price environment”, said Clayton W. Williams, Jr., chairperson and CEO of the company. Riggs has been with the company since 1984, serving as executive vice president and COO since 2010 and previously as senior vice president and CFO since 1991.
