CITIC Pacific Special Steel (000708) bagged a total of 7 awards at 2022 Metallurgical Science and Technology Award. Its subsidiary Jiangyin Xingcheng Special Steel’s project on “Innovation and Application of High-efficiency and Low-consumption Manufacturing Technology of Super-Large Specifications and High-Quality Steel Plates for Energy” and the “Longer Lasting Mechanism, Key Technology and Application of Special Steel for Basic Parts” jointly participated by Daye Special Steel won the first prize.
The projects that won the first prize created the world’s largest cross-section 450×2600 mm straight arc continuous casting. This innovation on high-efficiency and low-consumption manufacturing technology for super-large-scale high-quality energy steel promotes the production of medium-thick plates. Another innovation involves key technologies such as ultra-pure smelting of special steel, homogenized continuous casting, and new controlled rolling and controlled cooling that could provide higher-quality materials for the downstream industries.
