During an industry forum, Vice Secretary General of CISA Mr Li Yinchuan has said that Chinese steel market in this year should be better than in the last year because of economic growth in the country.
Responding to the daily output of 2.2 million tonnes (about 800 million tonnes annually) in February, Li believed such growth won’t be sustainable from the long term prospective because high production would lead to higher inventories and falling prices. He expects Chinese steel output in this year to be around 746 million tonnes and apparent consumption to be around 700 million tonnes.
