Chromalox, an advanced thermal technologies company, announced the availability of a new extreme duty model of its blower heater line. Called the CXH-XD blower heater, the new unit withstands corrosive and wet environments and is ATEX-certified. It extends the capabilities of the company’s CXH-A/EP models to provide primary or supplementary heating for comfort or freeze protection in heat areas classified as hazardous location.
CXH-XD enhancements include a corrosion-resistant coated heat exchanger, optional 316 stainless steel and epoxy-coated frames, as well as epoxy coatings for an IP66 control enclosure and motor. Chromalox expects the enhancements to make the blower heater suitable for extreme environments in industrial setting such as onshore and offshore drilling platforms, pump houses, power generating stations, water and wastewater plants, chemical storage facilities, and pipeline metering stations, among others.

The CXH-XD model comes with power ratings from 3kW to 35kW, which provide heat outputs up to 119,420 Btu/hr. It is offered only for three-phase voltages starting at 240V; however, an optional 690V design is also available. Frequency rating for the unit is 50/60Hz. The electric blower heaters have individually adjustable louvers to provide targeted heat. The permanently lubricated, washdown, flameproof motor provides maintenance free operation and high temperature safety cut-outs protect the copper heating elements.
