The Fourth international conference Stainless and Special Steels 2008 took place on 16-17 October in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. The international holding company Centravis acted as the general sponsor of the event. The first day of the conference included four sessions: stainless steel markets, stainless pipes, consumption prospects, and manufacturing techniques. In the context of the sessions, the participants discussed a situation in the stainless rolled metal market in Russia, import quotas and dumping in Russia, a question of quality of work with the end user. The conference delegates also discussed the stainless steel flat section market in Ukraine from the point of view of the delivered product mix change and development prospects in 2009. The review of new projects in the chemical industry in CIS as one of the basic consuming branches and the glance at consumption of stainless steel rolled section in Ukraine were given. The Pipe Research Institute held the session on the manufacturing and processing techniques of pipes from corrosion-proof steel grades and alloys, where the tendencies of the stainless steel seamless pipe market in Russia and welded stainless pipe market in Russia and Ukraine were also discussed. During the last day, in the context of the conference, the excursion to Joint-Stock Co. Centravis Production Ukraine factory took place. The final stage of installation of the new tube-pressing line, and the new production line in work and the site of U-shaped pipes manufacture in tube-drawing shop was shown to the conference participants.
