JFE Steel to raise capacity

Germany: turnkey plant

Ruhr Oel GmbH, represented by the operating company BP Gelsenkirchen GmbH, has commissioned Uhde to design and build a turnkey plant for reformate separation at their refinery site in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

New Zealand: Kupe drilling contract

ENSCO Oceanics International has won the contract to drill three development wells in the Kupe gas and condensate field and bids have been received for the construction of the production station, as momentum builds on the Kupe Gas Project.

Stainless steel robot

Forte Automation Systems has installed a Kuka Robotics KR 15 SL stainless steel robot into Dean Foods’ dairy product manufacturing facility.

Norway: Tyrihans development project

Stolt Offshore SA has announced that it has received a Letter of Intent for a contract valued at USD 90 million from Statoil ASA for pipeline installation on the Tyrihans oil and gas field development project in the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea.

GTAW Narrow gap welding

In situations where, foremost, the required weld joints must exhibit strength, integrity and corrosion resistance, such as for thick walled components for super critical power plants or nuclear power plants, the application of hot-wire Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), specifically GTAW Narrow Gap Welding (GTAW – NG), is finding increased use.

China: gas pipeline project

China Petroleum Material and Equipment Corp. has awarded US-based General Electric the contract to build a gas pipeline to transport natural gas from the Tarim Basin of NW China’s Xinjian region to Shanghai on the eastern coast.
