Vallourec receives 1st order

Vallourec launched new welded stainless steel tubes to be fitted into umbilicals. Umbilicals are used to connect the equipment on the seabed to a control station at the surface, and are key components of a subsea installation.

Mechel completes complex construction

Mechel OAO, a Russian mining and metals companies, completed the construction project for a grinding-mixing complex to produce cement.

The grinding-mixing complex was built in Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s industrial zone.

Phase 1 of Iron Ore Shipping Port expansion completed

The first phase of expansion of the iron ore shipping port at the Robe River joint venture in Western Australia has been completed. This project is jointly operated by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (Representative Director, Chairman and CEO Shoji Muneoka) and Rio Tinto (Australia & UK), one of the world’s leading mineral resource companies.

Sandvik outlines future plans at Capital Markets Day

Sandvik held its fully booked Capital Markets Day in Sandviken, Sweden, on 24th of September. Growth and operational excellence were the key themes. CEO Olof Faxander outlined his plan for the next three to four years, including the company’s shift toward fast-growing markets, higher returns and reduced earnings volatility.

NCS Survey wins 5-year contract from Aker Wayfarer

NCS Survey has been awarded a five-year contract with AKOFS Wayfarer AS, a Norwegian marine contractor, for the supply of positioning and survey services aboard the Aker Wayfarer. NCS Survey has been aboard the vessel since January 2011 via a contract with remotely operated vehicle (ROV) contractor, Oceaneering, working on several projects including Wellstream’s OSX-1 in Brazil in 2011 and 2012, and with Subsea 7 last year.

ANDRITZ to deliver heat treatment plant to Kardemir

International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from the Turkish steel producer Karabük Iron & Steel Industry and Trade (Kardemir) to supply a heat treatment plant for a wheel manufacturing line.

KOKS group to construct steel mill

KOKS Group is planning the construction of a new steel mill to produce long and structural steel products with the use of modern technologies at its Tulachermet OAO subsidiary. The project capacity of the new mill’s first production stage is expected to be around 1Mt of continuously casted square billets per year.

Siemens wins first wind turbine order in Peru

A new onshore wind power plant is expected to go online in March 2014 in Peru, near the city of San Juan de Marcona. Siemens has recently received an order from the Spanish wind developer Cobra Energia for the supply, delivery and commissioning of 11 wind turbines with a total capacity of 32.
