JSW Steel awards contract for slab sizing press

Marubeni Corporation, jointly with Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, will supply a slab sizing press for a hot strip mill belonging to JSW Steel, a steel company in the private sector in India. Marubeni will be the prime contractor and Mitsubishi-Hitachi will design and supply the mechanical equipment.

CSPA approves Northern Gateway recommendation

The Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA) welcomed the Joint Review Panel’s recommendation that the Government of Canada approve the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Project, subject to the 209 required conditions.

Centaurus revises Jambreiro development plan

newsitemInternational iron ore company Centaurus Metals revised the development plan for its flagship Jambreiro Iron Ore Project in south‐east Brazil after production commenced at the facility at 1Mtpa with the ability to subsequently increase to 2–3Mtpa. This revised development strategy is expected to result in a substantial reduction in pre‐production capital, enabling Centaurus to commence development with significantly less financing risk and in the shortest possible timeframe to take advantage of continued strong iron ore prices.

Pattern Energy Group will acquire two wind power projects, Grand Renewable and Panhandle 2, from its majority shareholder, Pattern Energy Group LP (Pattern Development), for total cash consideration of USD 202.

BP to operate Khazzan field, Oman

The Government of the Sultanate of Oman and BP signed a gas sales agreement and an amended production-sharing agreement for the development of the Khazzan field with BP as operator.

The full field development will involve a drilling programme of around 300 wells over a period of 15 years to deliver plateau production of 1B ft3 of gas per day and 25,000 barrels per day of gas condensate.

Zachry wins LNG Liquefaction Terminal contract

FLNG Liquefaction and FLNG Liquefaction 2 selected a joint venture of Zachry Industrial and CB&I to engineer, procure and construct the Freeport Liquefaction Project in Brazoria County, Texas. Zachry and CB&I will provide the overall EPC Project Management for the project.

TZC confirms structural steel fabricators
