DENSO expands North American headquarters

Global automotive supplier DENSO is investing USD 10M and adding 176 new jobs to expand its North American headquarters in Southfield, Michigan. The investment, which includes the purchase of an existing 81,000ft2 office building on its current campus, will increase its research and development capabilities in the region.

Layne to construct LNG terminal foundation

Layne Christensen Company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Costa Fortuna, which operates as part of the Geoconstruction division, received a contract to perform specialised foundation construction work, including driving steel pipe for a pier and nautical support (jack-up barge), in connection with the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Punto Sayago, Uruguay.

voestalpine acquires welding company in India

The voestalpine Group is continuing to push forward with its internationalisation strategy by acquiring the Indian company Maruti Weld headquartered in New Delhi. The company, which specialises in manufacturing welding electrodes, currently has 180 employees and generated an annual revenue of EUR 6.

Husky Energy approves heavy oil thermal projects

Husky Energy has sanctioned two new heavy oil thermal projects in Saskatchewan that will produce 20,000 barrels per day (bbls/day).
 
Engineering is underway with construction of the 10,000 bbls/day Edam East project and the 10,000 bbls/day Vawn project scheduled to begin this year with first oil expected in 2016.

Quanta Services wins thermal power plant contract

Quanta Power Generation, a Quanta Services company, was selected by Anchorage Municipal Light & Power for the George M. Sullivan Plant 2 Generation Replacement Project in Anchorage, Alaska. Under the terms of the contract, signed in December 2013, Quanta Power Generation will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for all equipment and facilities for the 120MW plant.

Van Oord to use Tekmar cables in wind farm project

Tekmar Energy bagged its third contract with international EPC contractor Van Oord Offshore Wind Projects for the Eneco Luchterduinen offshore wind farm development in The Netherlands.
 
Tekmar´s latest contract win will see the company supply its cable protection systems to Van Oord for the construction of the Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm, located about 23km from the Dutch coast in Block Q10 of the North Sea.
