Russia: LNG plant

Canada’s Petro-Canada is gradually moving towards development of a new Baltic LNG plant in Russia, the company has confirmed.

Mittal to keep Arcelor stainless for 18 months

Mr Lakshmi Mittal told the Belgian government on 19 April that Mittal Steel would retain Arcelor’s stainless steel business for 18 months if it succeeds in acquiring the world’s No 2 steel producer.

Chile´s President Mr Ricardo Lagos has declared that the country´s state-owned petroleum company, ENAP discovered a large gas field in the Lago Mercedes basin.

Malaysia: biodiesel plants

Malaysia hopes to claim 10% of the global market for biodiesel fuel through 2010 by launching two production plants that are expected to generate a combined capacity of 200,000 tons of methyl esters for biodiesel and glycerin by-product per annum.
