Bombardier receives huge Global aircraft order

Bombardier has received an order from NetJets Inc. to construct 50 Global jets with options for an additional 70 aircraft. This marks the company’s largest business aircraft sale in history with the transaction valued at approximately USD 2.8 billion, based on list prices.

TISCO duplex output set record high for 2010

TISCO achieved a significant increase in duplex steel production for 2010, producing a total development amount of 1000tns. This is an increase by 66% compared to 2009, fully replacing imported products.

Allied Group acquires Gieminox

Tectubi Raccordi, a subsidiary of Allied Group, has acquired a majority share in Gieminox S.R.L., a consolidated manufacturer of longitudinal welded pipes, fittings and auxiliary components in stainless steel, nickel and nickel alloys, duplex and superduplex.

ThyssenKrupp to deliver stainless for NY landmark

ThyssenKrupp Nirosta will provide stainless steel from Germany for New York's new landmark, the One World Trade Center. The corners of the skyscraper's facade will be edged with stainless steel. ThyssenKrupp produced the material for the landmark using a customized rolling and heat-treatment process

AMEC awarded EPCM contract

AMEC has received an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract by mining company Compañía Minera del Pacífico, a subsidiary of Chilean steel and iron ore producer Grupo CAP.

Gamesa, Chinese partners take on wind projects

Gamesa will team up with two Chinese partners to develop two 300MW projects. The first will be in the Jilin Province with Guangdong Nuclear. This wind farm will use wind turbines created by Gamesa’s Jilin factory.

Lucefin acquires KSM

Trafilix SpA has taken over KSM SAMA DE GmbH from Sama Inox Group. Established in 1979, KSM is located in Empfingen, south of Stuttgart in the southern German region of Baden-Württemberg.

Iron Ore of Canada invests CAD 289 million

Iron Ore of Canada will invest CAD 289 million as it resumes the second phase of its expansion plans to boost iron ore production in Labrador. The concentrate expansion program was suspended in 2008 as a result of the global financial crisis.

ArcelorMittal appoints Simon Wandke as CCO

ArcelorMittal has appointed Simon Wandke as the new Chief Commercial Officer of Marketing and Sales for its Mining division and a Vice-president of the company. Wandke will report to Peter Kukielski, Head of Mining and member of the Group Management Board.
