Jonsson retires from president and CEO of Saab

Jan Åke Jonsson will retire from his position as President and CEO of Saab Automobile AB (Saab) effective 19 May, 2011. The search for a successor is currently underway and Jonsson has agreed to assist Saab’s Management with a smooth transition to his successor by remaining available until 1 September 2011.

Samsung wins project in Saudi Arabia

Samsung Engineering Company has signed a USD 2.76 billion deal to build a natural gas liquid complex in eastern Saudi Arabia. As per the contract, signed with Saudi Aramco, Samsung Engineering will finish the complex in the Shaybah oil and gas field by June 2014.

Doosan invests in UK wind power industry

Doosan Power Systems will enter into the Scottish wind power business with an investment of up to GBP 170 million over the next ten years, supported by Scottish Enterprise. Upon completion, the project is expected to make a substantial contribution to Scotland’s expanding wind industry

Electralloy to increase prices

Electralloy will increase their prices on stainless grades and specialty and nickel alloy mill products. Mill products include the forms of all remelted products, in addition to billet, master alloy, and specialty nickel bar. The cost of selected air melted and all remelted stainless grades

Siemens to supply auto-tech to sugar refinery

Siemens has received a contract to equip a sugar refinery, operating in North America, with electrical and control technology. Currently under construction in Gramercy, Louisiana, the plant will be owned and operated by Louisiana Sugar Refining (LSR), a joint venture between Sugar Growers and Refiners

Sumitomo resumes operation at Kashima

Sumitomo Metal Industries Ltd has resumed operations at one of its two major blast furnaces in its Kashima plant in Ibaraki Prefecture. As a result of the earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan, the company had suspended operations at the two furnaces in Kashima.

New Appointment at Fluor

Fluor Corp has announced that Fluor Government Group (FGG) has named Eleanor Spector as vice president to lead its contracting activity. Spector will be based in Fluor's Arlington, Va. office.

RBM to increase output with new plant

South Africa-based Richards Bay Minerals (RBM), a Rio Tinto-BHP Billiton joint venture, intends to construct a large plant with operations expected to begin in 2016.

Valero to acquire Pembroke refinery
