Specialty chemicals group ALTANA has acquired two companies in Brazil. As a result, the ACTEGA division now has its own sites in South America's largest country.

MW Industries, a provider of highly engineered springs, specialty fasteners, machined parts, and other precision components, announced the acquisition of Maudlin & Son Manufacturing, a manufacturer of slotted shims, coil & flat shim stock, key stock, feeler gages, drill & threaded rod, and tool room supplies. Located near Houston in Kemah, Texas, Maudlin & Son has served the domestic and international markets since 1938.

SSAB recently showcased its Docol R8 product at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, the largest show of its type in the world. “This is the fourth year SSAB has participated in PRI, but the first year the company has had enough inventory to address this year’s build season,” said Kim Colvin, regional sales manager, Automotive.

IBERDROLA signed its largest renewable energy contract to date, valued at approximately EUR 620M, with Areva for the supply of wind turbines to its Wikinger offshore project.The French company will supply 70 M5000-135 5MW wind turbines, worth EUR 550M.

ArcelorMittal Prijedor, the mining business located in the Republika Srpska entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, celebrated one decade of successful operation since ArcelorMittal's acquisition of 51% of the previously state-owned enterprise in 2004. ArcelorMittal invested over EUR 35M in the business, which had been defunct since the conflicts of the 1990s.

Ennsub, the independent subsea design, engineering and technology company, has been awarded a GBP 2M contract by Benthic to build a newly enhanced and portable launch and recovery system to complement the latest addition to its seabed drilling and geotechnical drill fleet.

NLMK Board of Directors confirmed the changes to the makeup the Company’s Management Board. It was expanded from eight to ten members as a result of the inclusion of Ilya Guschin, vice president for Sales; and Sergei Likharev, vice president for Logistics.

Polysoude, the welding and cladding solutions company for the civil nuclear industry took part in the World Nuclear Exhibition held at Paris Le Bourget in October. Polysoude organised a special workshop entitled 'Solutions for the construction and maintenance by automated TIG welding solutions', which was attended by around 30 people from France and other countries.
