Canam-Bridges recently concluded an agreement with a joint venture formed by El Sol Contracting & Construction Corporation and El Sol Limited Enterprises to supply 7,900 tons of steel components for the reconstruction of the structure that will support the toll plaza at the Bronx entrance of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge in New York City.
Canam-Bridges will supply the components to replace the deck as well as those required for the replacement and widening of main tollbooth structure, an eight-lane, 1,550ft bridge. Fabrication will begin in August at the Canam Group plant in Quebec City while deliveries will be carried out from October 2015 to September 2017. The components for this bridge will be painted and metallised.

Formerly called the Triborough Bridge, the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge is a suspension bridge that was built in 1936 and has current traffic volume of over 200,000 vehicles daily. It is composed of three bridges, a viaduct and 14 miles of approaches linking Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx. Reconstruction work is slated to be completed in 2018.
