Calpine Corporation has announced plans to acquire 19 steam turbine generators from Toshiba International Corporation. With this and prior turbine transactions, Calpine has ensured access to the major equipment necessary to attain the company’s goal of operating 70,000mw of electrical generation by the end of 2005. Another 15 steam turbines will be delivered in 2003, with the balance received by the end of 2005. This newest order of advanced steam turbine generators will be installed in Calpine’s high-efficiency, combined-cycle power generating facilities.
