BUTTING pipes for sewage plant

BUTTING has recently delivered pipes in sizes from 1in up to 48in for the Jebel Ali sewage plant in Dubai. With a total tonnage of around 500tns, it is one of the largest projects ever carried out by BUTTING in the area of water and sewage technology. The Jebel Ali wastewater treatment plant is intended to deal with the rapid increase in sewage as a result of the population increase in Dubai, and to add significantly to the capacity of the existing plant in Al Awir. The sewage plant is being constructed on a 675 hectare site in the desert, SE of the Jebel Ali free trade zone. The order for construction of this plant was awarded by the Dubai authorities to the Al Ahmadiah-Aktor LLC – Aktor SA joint venture, consisting of the local company Al Ahmadiah-Aktor LLC, and the Greek company, Aktor SA. The order was valued at EUR 260 million. This major project is scheduled to be completed in about two years. Then about 300,000m3 of sewage will be able to be treated every day. For the first stage of the expansion of this sewage treatment plant, BUTTING supplied pipes of ASTM A312 and ASTM A778, made from the material 316L, in sizes from 1in to 48in with various wall thicknesses. At the end of March, the last pipes left the Knesebeck plant and were shipped out to Dubai in a total of 34 containers.
